List of our Translation Services
Sworn or Certified Translations in Court
A sworn translation is a translation with an oath performed by a translator at the court or by a notary, certifying that the translation is faithful to the original. Sworn translations are required for official documents, such as notarial deeds, certificates, licenses, contracts, and administrative documents.
The oath taken by the professional translator in court is also called certification and is, in all respects, a sworn statement. Sworn translations must always be accompanied by the necessary stamps for certification. Along with the oath, 16€ revenue stamps are affixed to validate the document. Once signed by the translator and the court official, it is recorded in the register of sworn statements and becomes an official translation.
The translator’s oath certifies that the translation is faithful to the original and checks whether the document is original, a copy, or a certified copy of the original.
Legalizations
Once the documents are certified, they can be legalized. We take care of this service for you as well, to deliver “ready-to-use” documentation. You just need to tell us in which country your documents need to be used. Legalization involves attesting to the legal status of the Public Official who signed a document (acts, copies, and extracts) and the authenticity of the signature itself.
The Prefecture – Territorial Office of the Government, by delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handles the legalization of signatures on documents for and from abroad. The Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for legalizing acts signed by Notaries, Court Clerks, and Judicial Officers.
Legalization of signatures is not necessary for acts and documents issued by the following Embassies and/or Consulates adhering to the European Convention of London dated June 7, 1968: Austria, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Sweden, Cyprus, Ireland, Norway, United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Turkey, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, and Moldova.
Documents made or intended to be valid in the states adhering to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, must undergo the formality of the so-called “Apostille” (a special stamp attesting the authenticity of the document and the legal status of the issuing Authority), instead of legalization.
But we take care of all this for you…
